The story of Tula Arms Plant closely connects
with the history of the country. It was founded by order of
Peter 1st on February 15th in 1712 of Old Style. And it has
been serving our fatherland almost three hundred years already.
From the first days of its existence the arms plant manufactured
full assortment of guns, that is infantry guns, rifled carbines,
carbines for battalions of chasseurs, dragoon guns, flintlock
pistols, Berdan rifles, Mosin “three-linear” rifles, Nagan
revolvers, pistols, Tokarev self-loading rifles SVT 38/40
and many other models of the famous guns. The plant puts six
modifications of Kalashnikov submachine guns into production.
The products of the armourers were exhibited at the international
shows and fairs many times and were highly awarded. The Tula
Arms Plant members made a great contribution to the national
security and to the international prestige of our state, which
was highly awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour,
the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Great Patriotic War of
the 1st degree.
The unique craftsmanship of the armourers is inherited by
sons, is passed through many hands together with its unique
devices and family “Tula secrets”. The original style of the
gun makers, their peculiar design insight, their skill to
find a sudden simple solution of a complicated design task
is all necessary when manufacturing hunting and sports weapon.
Due to the extraordinary reliability, durability, accuracy
of shooting and beauty, the Tula guns are always in demand.
The Tula armourers use various materials when decorating the
shotguns – gold, ivory, pearl. Design and carving are always
in harmony with a shotgun form, naturally blend with its outlines
and handy in exploitation. The piece-guns are also unique
because only one master makes assembly and decoration of shotguns
according to the client wish. Master’s personal mark can confirm
it.
Nowadays TOZ is a great producer and an exporter of the highly
accurate antitank guided missiles, special weapons, grenades
cup of discharge, hunting weapons and powder actuated tools.
The last decades were a period of productive work for the
plant, the period of creating various types of sport-hunting
weapons. In addition to the wide-known model ÌC 21-12, which
has been produced by the plant until now, the complex of self-loading
shotguns based on the model TOZ-87, and pump-action shotguns
based on the model TOZ-94, was put into production. These
shotguns have magazines of different capacity, changeable
muzzle adapters, including adapters “Paradox”, rear sights
and various butt performance.
The double-barrel shotgun TOZ-120 with a one-trigger selective
mechanism, classic assembly and controlled ejectors has become
well-known among the hunters and has met with approval no
less, than a time-proved double-barrel shotgun TOZ-34.
The variants of such shotguns as TOZ-87 and TOZ-120 were worked
out for “Magnum” cartridges. The shotgun complex based on
the TOZ-120 is developed. This is a complex of different gauges
with combined barrels and changeable muzzle adapters.
Beside the carbines TOZ-78 and TOZ-99, which are in demand
in Russia and abroad, there is a new issue of carbines TOZ-122
for a .308 Win cartridge that is the basic model for the complex
of carbines for cartridges of other gauges.
The constant increasing export trade in the Commonwealth of
Independent States and abroad tells about high quality and
reliability of hunting weapon of “TOZ” trademark (30-35 per
cent of sport-hunting weapon is delivered beyond the bounds
of Russia).
We are glad many members of the military-hunting association
prefer our weapons. No doubt after the contest in the magazine
“Okhotnik” the readers will know the “TOZ” weapons much better,
as well as the story of developing the models and the creativity
of the famous Russian designers-gunmakers. I hope the contest
result will increase the owners of “TOZ”guns among the readers
of “Okhotnik”. I wish good luck to all the participants.
